The device functions according to U/I characteristic curve with static POWER BOOST power reserve shown in the illustration. At ambient temperatures of less than 40°C, the I BOOST is even permanently available. It is also available at higher temperatures for several minutes. In the event of a secondary-side short circuit or overload, the output current is limited to IBOOST. In this case, the device does not switch off but supplies output current continuously. The secondary voltage is then reduced until the short circuit is eliminated.
