Please refer to Bently Nevada drawing number 138547 for additional information regarding the installation requirements for an Intrinsically Safe System.To avoid ground loops, the system must provide a single point ground. In Intrinsically Safe applications the 3500 Rack is floated and referenced to an intrinsically safe ground instead of earth ground. RS-232 communications are
referenced to earth ground, and therefore to keep the rack isolated from earth ground, a serial data isolator must be used. RS-485 uses an isolated ground and no additional isolation is required.
