The Allen-Bradley 1756-ESMCAP is an energy storage module for ControlLogix and GuardLogix systems. It is a capacitor-based energy storage module which is included with the controller. The ControlLogix L7 and GuardLogix L7 controllers do not include a battery. Instead they ship with a 1756-ESMCAP module. The 1756-ESMCAP module can also be used with 1756-L7xXT controllers. To prevent any potential damage during module installation, the 1756-ESMCAP should be aligned in the track and slid forward gently until it snaps into place.
